Birthday Wishes!!

If you would have asked me what an ideal birthday wish would have been just a year ago, I would have said a sparkly vampire would be nice (hehe)! If you had asked me even six months ago, I would have said a trip to Hogwarts would be a dream come true (of course). I’m sure you can guess what my birthday wish is now! Many of you have already made me believe that birthday wishes can come true! Thank you for all your support with Meant to Be,¬†I appreciate it so much!

To my most wonderful twitter family thanks for all that you do for me every day:

Those Fabulous Little Tags!!

One of the biggest considerations for any¬†published author is how to best market your book. For those of us that have chosen the self publishing route, it can be difficult to achieve any significant visibility that will translate to sales, which is the ultimate goal.¬†Up until just a few short months ago, I had no idea what a tag was. Judging from a few comments I’ve heard recently, I’m not the only one. So, the question is: What are tags and why are they so important?

A tag is a key word or phrase that helps describe, or filter, a book in the search results. Tags can be anything that pertains to the book. For example, YA Paranormal, is a tag that you would type into a search box if you wanted to find a book about YA Paranormal romance. Vampires is another example of a keyword that you would type into a search box to find books about vampires. Amazon gives customers the ability to apply up to 15 tags to help best describe a book for other readers.  Here is an example of how the tags look on Amazon.

¬† Tags Customers Associate with This Product¬†(What’s this?)

Click on a tag to find related items, discussions, and people.
Check the boxes next to the tags you consider relevant or enter your own tags in the field below.
¬†(15)¬†(12)¬†(12)¬†(11) ¬†(10)¬†(10)¬†(10)¬†(8) ¬†(6)¬†(5)Agree with these tags? See all 30 tags…

¬†The importance of tags is that the more times a book is tagged, the higher it ranks on the search results. Unfortunately for us authors, each person only gets to apply a particular¬†tag to a book one time. So, we can’t tag our own book 500 times, but just imagine how your book would benefit from 500 different people tagging it.¬†The more tags a book has the better. So, if you love¬†a particular book, show your love by tagging it for the author. They will love you for it! By the way, I would love to hear from those of you that have had success¬†getting your book noticed.¬†:o)

What Books Have You Read Over and Over Again?

I picked up and read my first book when I was 9 years old. This was a pivotal moment for me, because I realized that I could enter another world and leave mine behind. From that moment on, I was hooked, and I devoured every book I could get my little hands on. Many books have impacted my life and changed the way I looked at the world. They shaped who I am and what I stand for. Through the years, some have stood the test of time, and I have read them multiple times.

Judy Blume was one of the first authors that¬†wrote books I could¬†read over and over again, until they fell apart. I loved the Fudge books and suffered with Margaret, in Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. I cried every time I read, Tiger Eyes, and will never forget reading, Forever. Judy Blume gave me a world I yearned for. They were my friends no matter where we moved to.

Over the years, my list of re-reads has grown to include books like, Where the Red Fern Grows, Reckless, The Twilight Series, and of course the ever wonderful, Harry Potter books. I will not shock you with the number of times I have re-read these books, but now, I’m curious to know how many of you have your own favorite re-reads. Which books impacted your lives and changed the way you look at the world?¬† ūüėģ
